Choosing Garage Heaters that Meets Your Needs

By Danny Cliff at 2011-11-30 01:25:24
Garage heaters are available in many types and come in different delivery systems and use various fuel sources. Your choice will of course be driven by the insulation levels of your garage and your budget. When you are using a heater in your garage that is not insulated, a forced air heater is a better option to consider. They can be driven by natural gas or propane and can be mounted in any comfortable corner of your garage.

As the air movement is directed towards the floor, such heaters are effective for heating because of the air volume and high velocity discharge. It is important to get your garage insulated reasonably well because the hot air they generate can rise up to the ceiling quickly and make the garage uncomfortable to stay back.

If you have a well insulated garage the options for garage heaters improve significantly. You can now use radiant heat sources such as gas fired infrared heaters and electric heat gypsum boards on your garage ceiling. The option of using gas or propane driven heater is also open and can heat up your garage space effectively under insulated conditions.

Newly constructed garage can make use of the latest technology in garage heating. This involves placing heating tubing in the floor slab over hard insulation and then insulating the walls and the attic to the best possible extent. This is considered the most effective as well as economical way of heating up garage space. The tubing can be attached to a heating source such as hot water from a wall mounted boiler or a electric water heater.

If you want garage heaters that heat a particular area only such as your work space, it is possible to use wall mounted electric space heaters to get the desired results. They have a small blower and a few variable setting modes. Most of them come with a thermostatic control so that the unit can be controlled as per your heating needs. They are ideal for use if your garage is not insulated and you don’t need to waste energy heating up the entire garage space.

There are many brands available in the market not to mention the various types. Don’t get sucked into buying a garage heaters just because you have budget constraints; it will cost you more in the longer run. Choose garage heaters from reputable manufacturers to get the best value for your money and of course for peak performance.
